Lightweight Matt Frevola wants ‘fun fights’ against either Pimblett or Hooker for his return, but doubts whether the UFC would make them happen.
Matt Frevola is one of the few athletes active in the UFCs lightweight division that can truly be described as a ‘fan favorite’, bringing both violence and dedication to the octagon in every fight he’s involved with.
‘The Steamrolla’ recently took to X (Twitter) to call for a return fight against Paddy Pimblett or Dan Hooker, but the 11-4 lightweight is aware that the UFC probably won’t allow him to face either star.

Frevola was riding high on a three-fight winning streak, all three coming by way of KO/TKO stoppage, until he ran into Benoit Sain-Denis in November 2023.
After suffering a vicious first-round KO to ‘God of War’ at UFC 295, the Longo and Weidman MMA alumni is looking to get back on the horse in 2024 and has two names in mind who he thinks would be “fun fights” for the fans.
“Patrick Pimbleton [Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett] would be a fun fight but the UFC prob doesn’t wanna risk him losing,” he wrote in one post.
“[Dan] Hooker would be a fun fight but he prob doesn’t wanna fight outside the rankings,” read a second.
Whilst the fan-favorite lightweight thinks that his ideal return opponents sadly won’t come to fruition, there is still good news to celebrate: Frevola also recently announced that a ‘mini steamrolla’ is on the way.
Turning our attention back to this weekend’s UFC 298, Frevola also broke down how teammate Merab Dvalishvili can get the job done against former champion Henry Cejudo on the Underdog MMA YouTube channel.
“Henry Cejudo is a very cerebral fighter, he watches a lot of film, he breaks down the fighters and develops a game plan to win…[But] Merab Dvalishvili has an insane gas tank and he uses it to put pressure on people ‘till they break.”
Whilst many in the MMA community think that this clash will be going to the scorecards, Frevola is picking ‘The Machine’ to win by a third-round TKO.
