Michael Chandler claims he’s been given ‘too many assurances’ that the mega-fight with Conor McGregor will happen to think otherwise.
UFC lightweight contender and the best motivational speaker in the sporting world, Michael Chandler knows that a super-fight with Conor McGregor will happen “in the next couple of months”, but even he doesn’t know when or where.
The 23-8 veteran told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he has been given “too many assurances” that the fight will go ahead later this year: “The Chandler train continues to move forward and we’re not getting off this train.”

Michael Chandler offers update on Conor McGregor fight
‘Iron’ Michael Chandler is now 37 years old and whilst it’s taken much longer for the fight with Conor McGregor to materialize than he might have hoped for, the fan-favorite star says that the added time away from fighting has been good for both family and business.
Whilst Chandler did admit to Ariel Helwani on Wednesday’s episode of The MMA Hour that he’s becoming “tired of waiting” for the contract to be signed, he reaffirmed that the highly anticipated clash will happen “in the next couple of months.”
“This is the fight that is happening, I can’t tell you a date, I can’t tell you a weight, but I can tell you that the fight is happening. I have way too many assurances that this fight is happening to think otherwise.”
The #5 ranked lightweight also shared that headlining UFC 300 in April “made a lot of sense, it really did” adding that “I got to be honest with you, I thought that’s what it was going to be.”
“But we stay patient, we stay training, we stay ready…I’m hoping for this summer.”
Since making his UFC debut in 2021, ‘Iron’ has gone 2-3 in the promotion with two big KO wins over Dan Hooker and Tony Ferguson, whilst coming up short against Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, and Dustin Poirier.

Chandler makes the most of his appearance on WWE
Michael Chandler cut yet another fabulous promo calling out Conor McGregor earlier in the week, this time on WWE Monday Night RAW in Anaheim, California.
The fan-favorite MMA star introduced himself to the roaring crowd in typical Chandler fashion: “You are now in the presence of the most entertaining UFC fighter on the planet.”
“There’s a man from Ireland that’s been making me wait for way too long, and I’ve still got one dude on my mind! Conor McGregor, get your candy ass back to the octagon! We’ve got some unfinished business, boys! God bless. I’ll see you at the top!”
Chandler certainly gave it his all on Monday Night RAW and shared on The MMA Hour how two days later, his throat is still ‘injured’ from the promotional masterpiece.
